Following a grand proposal in Las Vegas, Tamsin and Craig chose Premier photographer Sarah Critchlow to capture their special day. With a gorgeous French Vintage theme, the couple were joined by their family and friends to celebrate at the stunning Buxted Park in Sussex.
Photographer Sarah said, “I arrived at Tasmin’s parents’ house in the morning and it was buzzing with excitement. Tasmin was having her hair and makeup done whilst the bridesmaids were busy in the other rooms, getting ready for the day ahead. As Tasmin was nearly ready to get into her dress, all the girls gathered for champagne. The excitement continued throughout the day and as the sun shone brightly all afternoon, the guests enjoyed a relaxed drinks reception on the lawns at the wonderful Buxted Park Hotel. What I recall the most from Tasmin and Craig’s day was the attention to detail – I have never seen so many special touches which Tasmin and her family had applied around the hotel venue and this continued into the evening entertainment with a big box of fancy dress accessories available for guests to wear and then have their photograph taken on Tasmin’s own camera.”
Bride Tamsin told us:
In November 2009 Craig and I went away to our dream destination of Vegas. The second night we
were there Craig asked me to put a nice dress on as he was taking me out. We went down to the lobby area to be greeted by a chauffeur; Craig had organised a limo to take us to a secret destination – Red Rock. Unfortunately things don’t always go smoothly for us and he took us to the Red Rock Hotel which was 30 minutes in the wrong direction! Craig really wanted to catch the sunset to propose to me at the Red Rock Mountains – sadly we missed the sunset but instead we had the beautiful view of the Vegas strip. It was still early evening so there were a lot of tourists about to watch the grand proposal! It was so magical I didn’t realise that there were about 15 people clapping and cheering – it felt like we were in our own little bubble!
I have heard of other brides rocking up to their first wedding dress shop and finding “the one”. I didn’t know what to expect and I didn’t have much clue of what I wanted. I found myself driving all around Sussex going to dress shops and trying on half their stock! Well, 14 shops and 70 dresses later…… I found the one! It was from Whyte Weddings, Worthing – such a beautiful looking shop and lovely helpful staff. I also bought all my accessories there.
Our ceremony was at All Saints church in Lindfield, Sussex. The Reverand conducted such a moving ceremony that made people laugh and cry – he brought so much meaning to the ceremony.
We decided to go for Thursday wedding. I had my concerns whether guests could make it due to work commitments etc but we knew that if we wanted a beautiful venue like Buxted Park we would have to take a chance and go with a less popular day. We were so lucky that our guests took the time off work and made our day so special.
Buxted Park had everything that we wanted in a venue, from its historical charm to its beautiful countryside soundings. The staff at Buxted Park were so attentive and helpful throughout the whole planning process as well as on the day. They had their work cut out for them as both of us had never been to a wedding before!
My theme was French vintage. We had a sweetie table which was displayed with all vintage glass jars that I collected from charity shops and car boot sales.
One little touch that went down really well with ladies was that we had a little basket of toiletries in the toilet. It had everything from hair pins to dry shampoo to chewing gum, just so they could fresh up throughout the day.
For evening entrainment we had a DJ, but we also had a vintage style suitcase with different props like moustaches on sticks and oversized sunglasses. It went down a storm with our guests and we all laughed so much looking at the pictures the day after!
The words of wisdom we were given were just to enjoy the day – the guests will always be happy as long as they can see the bride and groom having a good time. I can truthfully say we had a great time!
My most memorable moment was when Craig and I were driven from Lindfield to Buxted in our vintage Bentley wedding car. The journey takes 30 minutes but we asked the driver to take a longer route as we were enjoying each other’s company so much. We knew it would be hard to get that time alone with each other again that day so we just wanted to savour that moment. We just sipped on bubbly and chatted about our mornings and what we ate for breakfast! We loved it!
