Planning your wedding should be fun and exiting, and choosing your wedding dress is one of the most important decsions you will make. It can't just be any old dress, so whether you are planing a huge celebration with family and friends or just the two of you on a Carribean beach it has to be a gown that will truly transform you .
What type of dress do you want?
This part of the decision will generally come from the overall theme and location of the wedding and should help to inform your choice but by no means limit it. If you are having a registry office wedding and want a big princess style dress there is no reason why you should not have one!
There is a bewildering choice of dresses to choose from and you will not know what style is going to suit you until you try some on. Book an appointment with your local bridal shop, preferably one that has been recommended to you, take a trusted friend or relative with you ( do not take too many people to your first session, too many opinions will confuse you) and try on as many different syles and colours as you can before making your decision. Be guided by the consultants in the boutique, they are used to dressing many different shapes and sizes and should recommend styles for you to try.
As well as feeling and looking great, you also want your husband-to-be to love the way you look when he sees you on the day.
Most bridal boutiques hold "sample dresses" which you will try on and then place an order for your dress in the size and colour of your choice. At this point you will be asked to pay a 50% deposit with the balance payable when the dress comes in. Designer wedding dresses are made to order and take 4-6 months. So leave yourself plenty of time for the dress to arrive, choose your accessories and have the final fitting and "tweekings" done, ready for "the big day".
